I am interested in the effects of climate change on Arctic ecosystems, particularly from the lens of carbon and contaminant cycling. My current research combines field and laboratory techniques with remote sensing to quantify and monitor mercury and carbon cycling across northern permafrost terrains. I study this because I'm fascinated with the connections between earth systems, how human activities influence the resilience of these systems, and the implications of environmental change for the future of our biosphere. Through pursuing this fascination, a goal of mine is to increase understanding of and appreciation for our planet so that we become better stewards of our environment. I am also passionate about science education and outreach, and working with northern communities to better understand the implications of a rapidly changing Arctic. Please join me by browsing my photos and learning more about my research adventures, and feel free to contact me.
